ABOUT US

Who We Serve
Since the HIV/AIDS Pandemic in 1982, many Ugandan women and children have suffered great hardship.
In their villages, they have been victims of disease, extreme poverty, domestic violence, and famine. Many have been emotionally, physically, and sexually abused, and in some cases, ritually tortured by those who believe in witch doctors.
These women and children flee to the cities and larger communities, searching for scraps of food, begging for coins, and when that fails, seeking gainful employment as bar maids, prostitutes, and pickpockets. Many children are abandoned and left to make their own way in the streets, without the proper skills to care for themselves or their younger siblings. Some are expectant mothers or already raising babies on the streets, leading to an even less civilized generation, less likely to integrate into society. Alcohol and drug abuse is prevalent.
Outreach
Our goal is to minimize the psychological and physical effects of poor health and the lack of education for children and their families who live in a high risk environment.

TCF rents a building that doubles as a rehabilitation center and housing for the orphans. This center provides food, clothing, shelter, and regular bathing. We conduct searches for relatives, to hopefully reunite the orphans with family members. For those that are truly displaced or abandoned, we take on the responsibility for their well-being. For those that have homes and families, but are destitute, we conduct home visits to ensure their needs are properly assessed and long-term goals for rehabilitation are appropriately set.
We also provide public health programs and education programs covering HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, anti-domestic violence, and income generation support to single mothers, single fathers, child-heads of households, etc. We strongly believe that if we stabilize and strengthen the families in our communities, we could greatly reduce, or even solve, many of these social challenges.

Our Children
A gift from God. A joy and an extension of one’s family. A hope for the future.

Yiga Isa Decent
Founder and Director
TCF is the vision of Yiga Isa Decent, a former street kid. He is, today, the Founder and Director of this charitable organization. However, at the age of 12, his life was very different. After the death of his father, Yiga found himself homeless and needing the very kind of help and direction he strives to provide today. Having lived on the streets, he is more aware than most of the terrible circumstances these street children endure. Yiga acknowledges that, had it not been for kind-hearted, selfless individuals reaching out to him at this impressionable age, he would not be where he is today. Many are not so fortunate.

Join Us
Our mission can only be accomplished through the joint efforts of volunteers and financial supporters. While volunteers graciously pick up the vision, it takes finances to feed, clothe, and house these precious children. We invite you to partner with us to ensure these needs are met and that hope returns to this region.
